United States Marine Corps Tarawa KIA Marine Corps Purple Heart Medal: MINT Condition All Original Sterling Type 1 USMC PH, Officially Hand Engraved "Pvt. / William G. Kiley / USMCR." on Gilt Split Wrap Brooch, in Clean WWII Purple "Coffin" Case, with outer mailer and Original wrapping tissue. Private Kiley was from Chicago IL, and was with I "India" Co., 3rd Bn., 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division. He was Killed in Action November 20, 1943 in the Tarawa/Gilbert Island Campaign. Good Research, including the USMC Casualty Card. All in Mint, clean solid condition. (SOLD) Ref.# W2USMSKiley United States Navy Early KIA Group for Java Sea. Posthumous U.S. Naval Purple Heart/Good Conduct/Campaign Medal Group: Original Type 3 USN PH (Slot Brooch), Officially and Beautifully Hand Engraved in WWII Type II Short Titled Case. Original Impressed Naming USN Good Conduct Medal in the Traditional UnDated form for a posthumous award, on correct Slot Brooch. American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal, and WWII Victory Medal all in Original Titled Envelopes as issued to the family. All items are in Mint to Near Mint Condition, with only typical signs of age and oxidation. The PH is in Mint Condition. Machinist Mate 2nd Class was on the USS Ashville, a well known Patrol Gunboat (PG 21), from the China Service, was lost on March 1, 1942 in an action with a Japanese Surface Ship. Includes Excellent ABMC Research and Web Based verification, including the
MACR. This was an Early 8th AF B-17 Crew that was shot down by German
fighters about 25 miles out into the North Sea, returning from a bombing
mission over Bremen Germany. The aircraft exploded on hitting the

What was left of the 589th Field Artillery held off the initial advance long enough to avoid an even greater loss of troops at the famous "Alamo Defense at Parker's Crossroads". Issued in addition to the PH Medal to Mothers, Wives, Next-of-Kin in Honor of the loss of their family member. These are from the Original stock of badges that were made after the end of World War Two, and of High Quality manufacture.
