Latvian Order of the Three Stars - Commander Grade:  Originally authorized in 1924 as an award for outstanding civil merit, in Five Classes.  The Republic of Latvia was in place from 1918 to 1940, where it was absorbed by Russia (USSR), and eventually re-establishing independence in 1991 with the fall of the Soviet Union.  This decoration appears to be Silver Gilt with numerous hallmarks or proof marks on both Wreath and Upper Suspension Arm.  (“FM”, “875”, Crowned Head)  Overall condition is Excellent with some fading to the Original Neck Ribbon which is trimmed in Bullion Thread (Drape), and there are no enamel chips.  The Medal measures approx. 45mm across and 90mm from the top of ribbon loop to bottom of cross.  An UnCommon World Order for an Eastern European State. (SOLD)
