Exceptionally Rare WW2 LVF Croix de Guerre:  The Légion des Volontaires Français, were primarily Frenchman that fought for the Nazis against the Russians / Soviet Union, typically in the brutal fighting on the Russian Front.  This Award was issued by the German Army in Occupation, and considered a Third Reich Decoration by most.  The recipient here was awarded the decoration twice, with One Silver and One Bronze Star on the Drape for separate citations.  If found with this decoration post-war, you could be subject to death as a traitor, and as such very few survived.  These were manufactured in France, during the early German Occupation / Vichy Era of World War Two, and were awarded sparingly.  This is an ORIGINAL, and unlike the fakes that have been produced over the years.  It has a solid one-piece die struck center and arms, applied wreath, and the original watered ribbon drape material with twin-forked pin.  (Most of the better fakes are cast from originals in two pieces, where you will see a fine line where the halves are soldered together, or made from cut down and modified 1939 Croix de Guerre components.)  Email me if you’d like to see examples of the Fake LVF medals I have encountered.  Condition is Near-Mint, and one of the best examples I have ever seen of this decoration.  Outstanding French Legionnaire ( or Legion of the French Volunteers ) award, and missing out of most W.W. II Axis Collections.

RARE Type III 1870-WWI French Medaille Militaire:  (w/Double Faced Suspension)  This is a beautiful French Military Medal with the double faced trophy of arms.   While the later single faced strike is common, I’ve only seen a couple of these in 15+ years of collecting, and this is the cleanest one of them all.  NO enamel damage, a nice clean original ribbon, and a nice old patina.  A great opportunity to own a hard to find medal! (SOLD)

WWI French Croix de Guerre Mid-Range Miniature: Mid-Size 1914-1918 Dated, in a size between Full Size and True Mini.  This is truly a very odd size, approx. 1" square cross, and some have attributed this issue to Nurses serving the French Army.  Crisp strike with very nice patina, and only a slight touch of wear to the drape.  EF+ condition.
