Anti-Partisan Badges
WWII Anti-Partisan Badges: Outstanding Matched Trio with a Gold/Silver/Bronze that were said to be a U.S. Army 3rd Division Veteran bring-back, together in one stash. These are all cast, with hand finished edges, non-magnetic (except for the pins). The Dimensions are approximately 59mm High x 49mm Wide on all three, and the weight on the Silver is approximately 26.3 grams, with the other two in the 23-24 gram range each. There has been much discussion on whether these badges are Pre or Post 1945, but in the final analysis ALL have liked the Silver as being a Pre-May 1945 Badge, but the consensus on the other two is split. While I am VERY comfortable that the Silver is an Original Period item, I will have to let the ultimate buyer be the judge on the other two, as No One truly seems to know. The Gold Badge was heavily oxidized and, for better or worse, was cleaned by the current owner. This would most likely explain the odd finish to this badge. As these "Type II" badges were made late war, under crude casting conditions, there are broad ranges in quality and metal density (weights...), defying those that attempt to make specific guidelines to originality. The "quality" and quantity of fakes in this market has made everyone very cautious, and second guessing themselves. My gut reaction is that the set is period, and as such I will offer an extended 10 Business Day Return Policy (Twice the norm...), and let you be the judge once handled in person. This is one area that I will NOT claim expertise. These Badges have been viewed in person by many experienced collectors and dealers, and aside from the Silver, I haven't been convinced either way on the Bronze and Gold. (Price on Request)
